The CBC sitcom set in 1980s St. John's - a kid, a radio-tower home and a whole city's memory of growing up funny.
Son of a Critch premiered on CBC in 2022 and ran five seasons, closing with a final season announced for 8 September. It is based on Mark Critch's bestselling memoir of growing up in 1980s St. John's, with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as young Mark, Critch as his own father Mike, Claire Rankin as his mother Mary, and Malcolm McDowell as the grandfather. The show earned eight Canadian Screen Award nominations and, alongside Hudson & Rex and other productions, was credited with fuelling a boom in Newfoundland film and television.
