Got a place worth the drive?
Down the road
Well, Sunday after Mass we'd walk it. Start at the gate and go down, and every house along here I'll tell you who's in it.
Mark Critch
The St. John's comedian who went from teenage sketch nights at LSPU Hall to 22 Minutes and his own hit sitcom.
Mark Critch, born in St. John's in 1974, was doing sketch comedy there by age 15, renting the LSPU Hall as a teenager to stage shows. He joined This Hour Has 22 Minutes as a writer in 2001 when Rick Mercer left and became an on-air anchor in 2003, winning Gemini awards with the ensemble in 2006 and 2010. He played Ned Bishop on Republic of Doyle and turned his bestselling memoir about growing up in 1980s St. John's into the CBC series Son of a Critch, in which he plays his own father, Mike.

Well, Sunday the pot was on before Mass and the smell of it met you at the gate. Here's what was in it, and how it's done.
The hall
Them days the hall had a dance Saturday and the kitchen had music the rest of the week. It's still playing. Come in and listen.
The yarns

Not the house
No, I said, that's not the house. It was down just below there. Go back up the road.
